Girl claiming to be Raees Raisani’s fiancé names him in FIR
After being threatened Mahnoor retorted back about her relationship with Raees Raisani.
KARACHI:
The name of Raees Raisani, the son of Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani, surfaced in the news once again on Tuesday, when a girl who claimed to be his fiancé registered a complaint against another man for harassing her.
According to the FIR, a distant relative, Tariq Baloch, barged into the house of Mahnoor Baloch, the acclaimed fiancé, in Block 9 of Clifton. Tariq also had a gun with him and threatened Mahnoor with dire consequences for reasons still under investigation, said the police.
“When Tariq threatened Mahnoor, she too shouted back and told him about her relationship with Raees,” said the Gizri SHO, where the FIR was lodged. “I think that is the only link the chief minister’s son has in the case.”
The case was registered by Mahnoor’s aunt, Nazia Baloch, who said that Tariq is her brother-in-law. In the FIR, Tariq has been nominated under Section 506 (b) of Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with harassment.
The police said that earlier in the day, Nazia had taken the matter to court. But she was asked to lodge an FIR before the proceedings could be held.
However, Clifton SP Dr Farrukh Ahmed said that it was a family matter. “It had to do something with a Facebook account which Mahnoor kept,” he said. “Tariq wanted that to be deleted for some reason.”
Another police official said that usually such family disputes were not reported to the law-enforcers for settlement.
“Frankly speaking, Facebook does not even come under our purview. Federal Investigation Agency’s cyber crime cell looks into such matters.”
Though the investigation has not formally begun but the police say that Tariq will have to show up at the police station for questioning. They also wonder how the matter was brought to the police when it was personal and such influential families were involved.
“Usually people from feudal backgrounds and deep links with the Baloch culture the families feel disgraced when a woman, especially, if the fiancé of Raisani’s son is harassed,” they said.
Raees and his brother Yaadgar Raisani were in the limelight a couple of months back when they and some of their friends thrashed few policemen in the Defence Housing Authority. The brothers had to apologise to the police before the case was withdrawn.
