Lawyer’s killing: Action sought against ‘negligent’ cops
Petitioner accused the police of intentionally delaying prosecution and causing Bashir’s death.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed a senior superintendent of police (investigation) to proceed, in accordance with the law, in an application seeking action against two police officials (a deputy superintendent of police and a station house officer) for their alleged negligence leading to the death of a woman advocate.
The investigation officer earlier told the court that murder charges had been added to the FIR registered in Fouzia Bashir’s killing. He said an application had been filed with a magistrate’s court for permission to exhume Bashir's body.
Petitioner Chaudhry Zulifqar, the Lahore Bar Association president, had submitted that loss of blood during Bashir’s stay at the police station for registration of an FIR against her attackers caused her death.
He accused the police of intentionally delaying prosecution and causing Bashir’s death.
