Using Force: Policemen swing baton at lawyers’ rally

The Justice Lawyers Forum, a group of lawyer of city court, started their rally around 11 am on Tuesday.

KARACHI: A rally held by lawyers against the budget and targeted killings of traders were dispersed after the police used baton-charge, leaving a few injured. The Justice Lawyers Forum, a group of lawyer of city court, reportedly started their rally around 11 am on Tuesday and marched onto the MA Jinnah Road. When they moved ahead to the Campbell Street, policemen intercepted them. As the protesters tried to force their way ahead, the police baton-charged them and one of the lawyers was reportedly slapped. The police arrested more than a dozen people, including lawyers who were later released by the Additional District and Sessions Judge South on personal bond. Men arrested from the general public were instructed to be released on execution of a bail bond.
