An Anti-Terrorist Court in Gilgit on Monday awarded death penalty to two convicts for the murder of senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Advocate Mir Nawaz Khan. The cout also sentenced two others for life imprisonment in the high-profile case, which triggered sectarian strife in the capital town during the ensuing days. According to reports, Khan was ambushed near his home in Gilgit and shot dead. Apart from being a renowned lawyer, Khan was also among the pioneering leaders of PPP, the ruling party of Gilgit-Baltistan.
