Karak rape case: Investigation team submits polygraph test results
Chief justice will open sealed report, says SSP.
PESHAWAR:
After much delay, the investigation team probing the Karak rape case finally handed over polygraph test results to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday.
The court had ordered that 17 people, including the victim, be tested after the DNA tests failed to identify the culprits behind the alleged rape case. The polygraph test results have been awaited since the past weeks.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Kohat SSP Investigation Atiqullah Wazir said test results have been submitted to the court registrar. “The chief justice will open the sealed report, until then we cannot comment on who is involved in the rape,” he said.
Earlier in 2010, Bilqisam Jana, mother of allegedly rape victim Uzma Ayub, accused 13 people, including three police officials, for kidnapping and raping her daughter and registered an FIR at the Tekht-e-Nusrati police station in Karak.
When the case surfaced in the media, PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan took notice of the issue and ordered an investigation. However, despite the DNA tests being taken, the matter remains murky.
“We are still investigating the matter and hope the tests resolve the case,” Wazir said.
