The Punjab government has raised significantly the budget for the Counter Terrorism Department of the police for the next fiscal year, allocating Rs1.362 billion, up from Rs861 million for 2011-12.



The total police budget is Rs61.508 billion. The budget the year before Rs52.116 billion, which was later revised to Rs59.324 billion.

The number of posts in the CTD has been increased from 2,173 to 3,350. While the department will have one additional inspector general, one deputy inspector general and 10 SSPs, as before. The number of SPs (male) is to be increased from five to 10, while two posts of DSPs (female) are to be abolished.
