Zohur Hussein Mohammed Sadeq had been found guilty of smuggling heroin into Saudi Arabia, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.
The previous day the ministry reported that a Saudi had been executed after he was found guilty of murdering a compatriot.
The latest beheading brings to 31 the total number of executions in the ultra-conservative kingdom so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on official reports.
Under the AFP count, at least 76 people were beheaded in 2011, while rights group Amnesty International put the number of executions last year at 79.
The death penalty in Saudi Arabia applies to a wide range of offences including rape, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking, as well as murder, as stipulated by Sharia law.

@Saleem: So true. Good observation.
Though, it is better to make such stubborn laws for the country, But the thing is either they are being implanted on researched scientific basis?? Saudians are bestowed of Greater wealth,religious supermacy and unabated Muslim support arround the World.. As long as some pious,practical and intelligent leaders like Shah Faisal was concerned, he was rightious to develope laws with their all vigority,where as the leaders or Mandmaid Kings are comming accross they should`nt have right to prepetuate fear and obcessisity in the country..
@Saleem: Its Either a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian & never a American or britisher (white) because the Saudi Arabian Rulers are supplied with white flesh by the Americans/Britishers which the Saudis enjoy
@Saleem : Agreed!
However the Saudis live in the midevil age ! death penalties for crimes like these are unheard of anywhere else in the world.. Women can't drive and weren't even allowed in the Parliament till not so long ago. I must say god loves the Saudi people as he as given them so many resources (OIL) ... a quote from the movie Syriana best describes the Saudis; " Your second largest export is secondhand goods, closely followed by dates which you're losing five cents a pound on... You know what the business community thinks of you? They think that a hundred years ago you were living in tents out here in the desert chopping each other's heads off and that's where you'll be in another hundred years,"
Hah, I want to visit a Pakistani news website where I can find just 1 good news per day. Its really too much to ask. Pakistani person behind this and that, Why has good punished us by giving us such type of people I wonder.
Ultra conservative is a polite way of saying 'still living in the stone age' and 'low iq' The saudis have never dared execute a white American or British national; only pakistanis, bangladeshis etc
Our government and consulates never bother to inquire poor victims of this black sharia law. Saudis simply catch them and behead them without further investigation. Our ambassador and consular are of no use. They never come out and challenge the case or provide proper defense lawyer to poor Pakistani victims of this drug trade. They are being beheaded like goats and sheep in this desert.
If you're stupid enough to carry a package, contents of which you are unaware of and given to you by an unknown entity, then you're asking to be beheaded. Yes, the chain of people behind the trafficking are indeed culprits, but the mere fact that they are the ones calling the shots and using the so-called idiots as pawns does not exculpate the pawns. If an army commander orders a soldier to shoot an innocent civilian, an order to which he reluctantly complies, I would consider them both equally guilty. Saudi law, harsh as it may seem, is there for a reason; deterrence, and to be honest, it works like a charm. However, in some cases, such as those of adultery, there's a lot of room for amendments. The punishment, atleast in this case, is justified.
@ASD
The guys who are beheaded are just stupid, poor and illiterate guys who have no idea what they are doing. The real bosses are sitting in their palaces in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. So git rid of your middle class morality and think before commenting
@ ASD: Smugglers are also humans. That said, Saudi laws and justice system leave much to be desired. And yes, ultra-conservative. Lopping off heads of poor 'al-masakeen' from South Asia at public squares is hardly a liberal thing to do.
Ultra-conservative? If they are practising something..what is your problem...DOnt tell me you people want Smugglers Rights too? @eTribune
