The presidency on Friday cancelled the Independence Day celebrations in the wake of the worst-ever floods in the country.

However, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will deliver a speech tomorrow in which he will take the nation into confidence regarding the government’s relief and rehabilitation operations in the flood-affected areas.

Earlier Chief of Army Staff  Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had also cancelled the Independance Day functions of the army, so as to use the fund for flood relief instead.

Although this is not the step to be critisize as it would be very cold to celebrate Indepndnce day whle our fellow pakistanis basic needs are yet to be fulled filled!
