A technology showcase titled “Expo@UOS-2012” concluded at the Swat University Wadudia Campus on Wednesday. The two-day event exhibited stalls of management and basic science, software and hardware vendors, and competitions among various colleges and universities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, a funfair kept visitors entertained.

“The exhibition will impact the younger generation by providing them insight into different educational fields and help them keep abreast of technology,” said Zunaira, a visitor.

A ninth grader of Swat Public School and College seemed excited about bagging the first prize in a software competition. “We have ample talent and ability but need outlets to progress in the field of science and technology,” she told The Express Tribune.

Yasin Akbar, a student of Swat University, tended to her stall of the traditional Swati embroidery, Ladore. “This is a step to revive the stitch and it is good to see people taking an avid interest,” he said. Her stall displayed embellished cushions, shawls, and purses among other items.

“We have tried to provide students a platform to channel their energies and skills towards a proper course, which is indispensible in their lives,” said Swat University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan. He added that it also serves as a means of interaction between the society and the industry.
