Astronomical sighting: Planets to align today
After this year’s transit of Venus, the next one is expected in 2117.
KARACHI:
A rare astronomical event will occur on Wednesday, today, when the planet Venus will align with the Earth and the sun for a few hours. The institute of space and planetary astrophysics at the Karachi University said on Monday that it had made arrangements for safe viewing of the event which will begin at 5:30 today at its astronomical observatory. After this year’s transit of Venus, the next one is expected in 2117 and it is likely that anyone alive today will not have a chance to observe this astronomical event.
