Long wait: Court summons top officials over teachers’ petition

Teachers are still waiting for posting orders.

KARACHI:
A division bench of the Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to chief secretary, education secretary and other officials in a petition filed by 42 primary school teachers, all hailing from district Naushehro Feroz.

The petitioners Israr Ahmed and 41 other submitted through their counsel that after successfully completing all formalities including test, interviews, etc, they were  still waiting for posting orders since many years but the education department instead intends to re-initiate the process of employment.

The bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi after hearing the initial arguments ordered issuance of notices to the respondents for a date to be fixed later by the office of the court. The same bench also ordered issuance of notices in a petition filed by mother of a young man allegedly belonging to a political group and missing since May 31.

Sardar Begum, through her counsel Agha Zafir, submitted that her son, Muhammad Asad alias Muhammad Arshad, was sitting at a hotel near their residence in Drigh Road on May 31 when a Rangers party whisked him away and since then his whereabouts are not known.

The boy was not presented before any court and therefore there is a serious apprehension about his life, the counsel submitted fearing that missing young man may be booked in cases by law enforcement agency. The bench after hearing the arguments ordered issuance of pre-admission notices to the Advocate General Sindh and police authorities for a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.
