ABBOTABAD:
A mother of three was strangulated by her husband in a house in a remote village on Sunday evening.
When the police reached the house in Garamri Rich Behen village, it found the body of Shabana Bibi hanged from a ceiling fan. The husband, Muhammad Younus, claimed that his wife had committed suicide; however, the victim’s mother, Shirin Bibi, accused Younus of murdering her daughter.
She said only two weeks ago Younus beat her daughter black and blue but the matter was resolved on the request of a local jirga.
She alleged that the couple had a brawl over a minor issue on Sunday evening and Younus strangled Shabana. She further claimed that in a bid to mislead the investigators, Younus hung her daughter’s body from the ceiling fan and put up an act, crying and claiming that she had committed suicide.
The body’s autopsy confirmed that the woman was strangulated and did not commit suicide. The autopsy added that the body bore torture marks.
