Mushahid Hussain Syed elected as Senate Defence Committee chairman
Senator Talha Mehmood was appointed as the Senate Interior Committee chairman.

Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) leader Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed was unanimously elected as the Senate Defence Committee chairman during a meeting at the Parliament House on Monday.
Syed’s name was proposed by Senator Ishaq Dar and Senator Sabir Ali Baloch and seconded by Senator Maulana Mohammad Khan Shirani, Senator Tahir Mashhadi and Senator Sehar Kamran.
During the meeting, Senator Talha Mehmood was elected as the Senate Interior Committee chairman, and Haji Adeel as the Senate Foreign Committee chairman. Maulana Ghaffur Haideri was elected as the Senate Railway Committee chairman and Senator Kazim Khan as Senate Law and Justice Committee chairman.
Senator Syed, after being elected, said that the top priority of the Defence Committee would be to promote harmony in civil-military relations and added that the Defence Committee would also promote transparency on issues of national defence budget and expenditures and also in defence production.
