ISLAMABAD:
Cultures from across the country will be showcased at the “Pakistan Week” being organised at the Lok Virsa between June 3 and June 9.
The major features of celebrations include an exhibition of cultural heritage, an arts and crafts bazaar, folk songs, dance performances, cultural evenings and floats representing the cultures of all federating units.
The Lok Virsa installed 24 gates for enstrance on highways and busy roads. The organisers have also decorated different chowks and roundabouts as part of the week.
Other events and activities during Pakistan Week include stage plays and on-the-spot activities. The week will close after an awards ceremony on Saturday.
Federal Minister for National Heritage and Integration Samina Khalid Ghurki addressed a press conference at Lok Virsa Shakarparan on Sunday, highlighting the salient features of the celebrations. She also opened the event.
Ghurki said, “No nation can thrive without culture, preserving and strengthening cultural heritage is important for development and for promoting national unity and tolerance.”
The minister said she hoped the event will leave “a positive impact on the audiences while enjoying and celebrating their beautiful cultural heritage”.
“This celebration would therefore serve as a unique opportunity to propagate the message of unity among all Pakistanis,” she added.
