GILGIT:
Recovery of a man’s decapitated body near Gilgit on Sunday remounting tensions of sectarian violence in the region. Shops remained closed in Gilgit fearing sectarian bouts similar to those in April when over two dozen people were killed. According to Gilgit Assistant Commissioner Usman Ahmed and the police, the body was found in Sharote and the victim is believed to be a local of Goharabad, a small town of Chilas where a charged mob killed 10 commuters in response to a hand grenade attack on a rally in Gilgit. Ahmed said he could not comment on the motive behind the murder, adding that a senior police official has been assigned to investigate the killing.
