Unsafe journey: Three die during accident in Saddar
Accident reportedly took place as the victims tried to overtake the tanker.
KARACHI:
At least three men died on Friday when a speeding water tanker hit their motorcycle on Abdullah Haroon Road in Saddar, within Preedy police limits.
The victims were identified as Mohammad Mujahid, 26, son of Bakht Ali, Asad, 25, son of Ghulam Rasool and Jaffer, 27, son of Riaz. Police officials said that the accident took place when the victims were on their way to their homes in Malir after having visited the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton.
Mujahid and Jaffer died on the spot while Asad succumbed to injuries at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said that the victims were friends and had gone to the shrine to distribute food.
The accident reportedly took place as the victims tried to overtake the tanker, and the tanker’s brakes did not work properly at the time. The victims’ bodies were handed over to their families. Police registered an FIR no. 342/12 against the driver on the complaint of the victim’s relative, Imran, and have launched an investigation.
