AT to mark Chehlum of May 22 victims
Another public meeting in Karachi on July 15.
HYDERABAD:
Sindhi nationalist party Awami Tehreek (AT), which held the Mohabbat-i-Sindh rally, will organise another public meeting in Karachi on July 15.
“We will mark the Chehlum of May 22 martyrs in Karachi on that day,” announced AT President Ayaz Latif Palijo at a press conference on Friday. At least 13 people were killed and 35 others suffered injuries when a rally, led by the AT, against the demand for a separate Mohajir province was attacked on Napier Road. Palijo demanded that Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Mohajir Suba Tehreek leader Saleem Haider should be nominated in the FIR of the incident.
He announced that the AT will organise a “Love Sindh” rally in Islamabad on August 14 and arrange a series of rallies and public gatherings in each district of Sindh from June 3 to August 10. “We will also stage a sit-in outside parliament, where hundreds of thousands of people will express their resolve to resist the division of Sindh,” said Palijo.
