Flood Impact Assessment: Sindh, Balochistan suffered Rs325b loss
Agriculture, housing, education and health facilities suffered most.

The floods in Sindh and Balochistan in 2011 caused losses worth Rs325 billion to infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and housing, the Economic Survey of Pakistan said.
Minimum reconstruction costs amount to Rs239 billion, the survey added.
Loss to the agriculture sector has been estimated at $1.84 billion, of which 89% was in the form of direct and 11% in indirect losses. Sindh suffered 94% of the total flood damage and Balochistan 6%.
The flood completely destroyed around 514,283 houses and partially damaged another 484,093.
It also destroyed 4,096 educational institutions - 3,892 in Sindh and 204 in Balochistan.
The damages to schools in both the provinces is estimated at Rs12 billion. The cost of reconstruction for the damaged institutions is estimated at Rs22.6 billion.
Public health infrastructure in Sindh and Balochistan was also damaged. Basic health units and rural health centers suffered the most damage, accounting for 74 of the total 141 damaged facilities.
Floods destroyed 113 out of 708 health facilities of various categories in the 11 affected districts of Sindh. In Balochistan, 28 out of 193 health facilities were affected. The total damage to the health sector is estimated at Rs1.26 billion, the economic survey disclosed.
