Shooting: Policeman shot dead over ‘personal enmity’

The two families had a murder feud between them, the family told police.

ISLAMABAD:

A police constable was shot dead late on Wednesday night while he was sitting in a ground near his residence. The Aabpara police said Constable Falak Sher was shot from close range and died on the spot.

Sher’s family nominated three men in the case registered at Aabpara police station, said police. The police were still looking for the suspects — Safeer Muhammad and his two sons Yasir and Babar, residents of Kotli Satian — when this report was filed.

The two families had a murder feud between them, the family told police. Sher’s brother Amir Raza, who is in jail, killed Safeer’s son, said a police official.

Police said the assailants arrived on a car and targeted Sher while he was sitting in Bank Colony Ground in G-7 near his house in the evening. The constable died immediately from a shot that pierced his heart, said the police.

Sher was deputed at Police Lines Headquarters, but was not on duty when he was shot. The body was handed over to the family, police said.
