For unity: ‘MQM opposes the division of Sindh’

As controversy flares up in Sindh over the call for a Mohajir province, the federal minister and deputy convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Farooq Sattar said that his party would go to each village to dispel misunderstandings.
“The MQM has razed the wall of hatred in the past and will not hesitate to do so again,” he said during a seminar on Thursday. “On behalf of the leader of MQM, Altaf Hussain, I condemn the people who are trying to divide Sindh,” he said. “My party stands for Sindh’s unity.”
Sattar advised nationalists to do away with the politics of exclusion. “They should promote a kind of nationalism which includes Urdu-speaking people as well as Sindhis,” he said.
He commented on the reaction of the Pakistan Peoples Party to the Mojahir province by saying that a party engaged in the politics of federalism should not be frightened by the issue. Sattar also contended that the provincial autonomy granted by the 18th amendment has not resolved the unrest felt by people of certain regions of the country. He said that this shows that the centre still hold a vast amount of power.
