Mobilink posts Rs47.5b revenues

Mobilink closed the first half of 2010 with revenues of Rs47.5 billion, showing an increase of 11.4 per cent.

KARACHI: Mobilink closed the first half of 2010 with revenues of Rs47.5 billion, showing a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 11.4 per cent, the company announced on Thursday.

According to a press release, there was a YoY increase of 24.8 per cent in Mobilink’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in rupee terms. Moreover, the company’s EBITDA margin increased to 39.6 per cent versus 35.5 per cent over the same period last year.

According to the results unveiled by Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH), the parent company of Mobilink, the subscriber base of Mobilink increased by 10.5 per cent as compared to the same period last year, standing at 32.2 million at the end of the first half in June.

Commenting on the results, Khaled Bichara, Group CEO of OTH, shared that the first half of 2010 has demonstrated stable growth for most of Orascom operations, supported by a trend of high additions to various customer bases.
