Pension: EOBI disburses Rs831m in April
EOBI registered 557 new employers, 43,016 employees and approved 4,691 new pension claims

The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) disbursed a total of Rs831 million among its beneficiaries in April, said EOBI South Director General (Operations) Javed Iqbal in a meeting at the head office in Karachi. “In the same month, EOBI registered 557 new employers, 43,016 employees and approved 4,691 new pension claims,” he said. Iqbal said EOBI collected Rs825 million as contribution from registered employers and employees in April, adding it has started disbursement of pension through easy paisa, a branchless banking service. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal said self-employed people could also register themselves with EOBI by paying a contribution of Rs420 per month. He advised pensioners to register themselves at their nearest Telenor easy paisa franchise. Once registered, they can withdraw pension from the designated 16,000 easy paisa outlets across Pakistan.
