BAHAWALPUR:

“We must ensure that all women of the area who have reached the age of 18 are registered as voters,” Farooq Khan, the Cholistan Development Council of Pakistan director said on Monday.

Addressing a meeting of the CDCP, Khan said it had been reported that a large number of women in Cholistan, Balochistan and FATA were still missing from the voters’ lists due to non availability of computerised national identity cards (CNIC).

He regretted the situation that a large number of people in the country still did not have their computerised national identity cards due to several reasons.

He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the situation and order the National Database and Registration Authority to issue computerised national identity cards to those missing one.

Khan stressed the need to create awareness among the masses, especially women, about their right to vote and its importance.
