Military operation: Four militants killed in Orakzai Agency
Officials claimed that they gunned down an important militant commander identified as Rahim.
KOHAT:
At least four militants, including a commander, were killed in an attack by security forces in the Sra Garhi area of Dabori, Upper Orakzai Agency, security officials said on Sunday.
The clash erupted during early hours of Sunday when security forces advanced to clear the area of militants. An official of the security forces said that this area was a stronghold of the Gul Zaman group, the Orakzai chapter of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Officials claimed that they gunned down an important militant commander identified as Rahim, without any casualty on the forces’ side.
Security officials also added that they began a military operation in Central Kurram Agency and Upper Orakzai Agency and have cleared most of the area of militants.
“We got control of Jamal Mela in Central Kurram,” an official said. In the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Orakzai is the second smallest agency after Bajaur which shares borders with the Kurram and Khyber agencies and is the only agency which does not share its border with Afghanistan.
