Busted: ‘Target killer’, three others arrested
The suspect was identified as Mustafa Khattak.
KARACHI:
A suspect, who was supposed to be presented in court on Monday (today), managed to escape from police custody on Saturday and was arrested nearly 12 hours later from Hyderabad.
The suspect was identified as Faisal and was initially arrested by the police on May 24. They seized a motorcycle and a TT pistol from him. He was handed over to the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) for questioning.
The ACLC produced the suspect in a lower court and he was remanded into their custody for three days. Faisal was supposed to be presented before the court on May 28 but managed to escape from the Sharifabad wing of the ACLC on Saturday.
The ACLC chief SP Javed Akbar Riaz said that the head constable Imdad Ali was suspended and arrested for his negligence. He added that a case had been registered against Ali and an FIR no.126/12 was registered on a complaint from ASI Hanif.
In North Nazimabad, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), claimed to have arrested a man allegedly involved in several bank robberies. The suspect was identified as Mustafa Khattak.
SIU Chief SP Khurram Waris said that during the initial investigation, the suspect confessed to have robbed three banks with help from the security guards. He added that the suspect stole four million rupees from a private bank in Ferozabad, Rs4.4million from a bank in North Nazimabad and eight million rupees from a bank in Hyderabad.
In an unrelated case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a suspect identified as Rustam Ali. The FIA officials claimed that the suspect was involved in a murder case in Qambar-Shahdadkot and had escaped for Saudi Arabia. The agency said that they arrested him after they received information about his arrival from Riyadh. The suspect was handed over to the Qambar-Shahdadkot police.
An alleged target killer identified as Qadir was arrested by the Range Crime police on Sunday from Korangi.
