The trial of three men accused in the 2006 Nishtar Park bomb attack continued in the Central Jail on Saturday. The case is being heard by Justice Bashir Ahmed Khoso of Anti-Terrorism Court I. Mufti Mohammad Zakir, Sultan Mehmood and Rehmatullah have been charged under sections 302, 324, 427, 109, 120-B, 114 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. SI Zahid Hussain testified in the hearing on Saturday morning. The attack on April 11, 2006 at Karachi’s Nishtar Park killed over 50 people and the senior leadership of Barelvi groups such as the Sunni Tehreek, who were reportedly the target.
