Sajjad shocked by wild-card cueist

Former Asia number two crashes out of ranking event.

Top-seed Muhammad Asif defeated Abdul Sattar 5-3 while wild-card entrant Shahram Changezi shocked Mohammad Sajjad 5-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the 4th NBP Ranking Snooker Championship.


Sattar took an early lead by winning the first two frames but Asif hit back in style to go 3-2 up with a break of 100 in fourth frame before Sattar levelled. However, Asif’s experience the prevailed as he won the next two frames to seal the result. Meanwhile, Changezi admitted his hard work was starting to pay off.

“I took a 15-month break to train in England and that’s helped me immensely,” Changezi told The Express Tribune. “Now my game has improved and it’s time to deliver.”

Second-seed Sultan Mohammad progressed too after a 5-2 win over Naveen Perwani. Punjab’s Mohammad Majid stunned Vishan Gir 5-3 win, Muhammad Nazeer beat Khurram Agha 5-1, Mohammad Yousuf edged out Mohammad Javed 5-4, Shahid Aftab beat Mohammad Imran 5-1 and Asjad Iqbal moved past Farrukh Usman 5-3.
