Wali Khan Babar murder: Alleged suspect killed in encounter

Police arrests another suspect near Sea View.

KARACHI:
An alleged suspect involved in the murder of journalist Wali Khan Babar was killed in a police encounter near Sea View in Karachi on Saturday, reported Express News. Another suspect was injured and arrested.

SHO Darakhshan Police Shafeeq Tanoli said that the suspects started firing at the police when they were signaled to stop while riding a motorcycle near Sea View.


In retaliatory fire by the police, suspect Liaquat was killed, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Babar, while his accomplice Rashid (alias Chamber) was injured and arrested by the police.

Two TT pistols and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the arrested suspect. The police claimed that the killed suspect also served as a deputy director at Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).

Babar, a young journalist, was killed in a targeted attack in the limits of the Super Market police station in Liaquatabad town while returning home from work on January 13, 2011.
