Govt is reviewing energy crisis: Kaira
'The government is in negotiations with India to import 200 million cubic feet of gas.'

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Friday that the energy situation was being reviewed by the government and treated with utmost urgency.
Kaira said that the cabinet’s special committee, headed by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, was working vigorously to resolve the issue, and the committee would soon present its report to the cabinet. The mandate given to the energy committee by the prime minister was to take immediate action over complaints of theft and line losses.
He claimed that in order to overcome the gas shortage in the country, the government was in negotiations with India to import 200 million cubic feet of gas.
Talking about liquid gas production and consumption in the country, Kaira stated that a terminal has been obtained at Port Qasim in Karachi for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and Pakistan State Oil was also planning to install 300 LNG pumps nationwide.
