BAHAWALPUR:
The four-day anti polio campaign in the district will begin on June 4. Health Department officials on Friday said that 504,294 children, under five year of age, will be administered the polio vaccine. They said 1,201 teams have been formed for this purpose. The vaccine will be administered at bus stands, railway stations and the airport as well as homes in a door-to-door campaign. Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, over 83,000 expecting and new mothers are being given vaccine against tetanus. This was stated by the National Programme district coordinator, Dr Tariq Javed, on Friday while visiting several centres set up for the campaign. Dr Javed said some 250,000 children under the age of two were also being given vaccines against eight diseases. He said 2,500 lady health workers had been appointed to the week-long programme. “The teams are creating awareness among women,” he said.
