Help for only the rich
With reference to your report of August 11 titled ‘Millions move out as floods threaten Sindh’.
THATTA:
With reference to your report of August 11 titled ‘Millions move out as floods threaten Sindh’, I can say that staff at the irrigation department is helping only the rich and influential. The poor whose houses and property are under threat have been left to fend for themselves. For instance, I know that the irrigation department has made ‘bunds’ to protect the land of a sitting MPA of the Sindh Assembly from Thatta.
This is downright criminal. The irrigation department needs to be pulled up by the Sindh government. This misuse of taxpayers’ funds and resources to help the influential is unacceptable and must be stopped.
