Four militants killed in North Waziristan drone strike

It could not be confirmed whether the militants were foreigner or local, said security officials.

At least four suspected militants were killed in a drone strike on a compound in Zafar Town in Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan agency in the early hours of Wednesday, security officials confirmed.

Two missiles were fired at a house in Miranshah bazaar a few hours after midnight. “It could not be confirmed whether the militants were foreigner or local,” said a security official.

A tribesman, Saeed Jan told The Express Tribune that around midnight, a drone targeted a house in Saikal Kalay near Zafar Town in which four people were killed and several injured.


“After the enormous blasts, militants surrounded the area and shifted all the bodies and injured to an undisclosed location,” he said.

It was the first drone strike after the Chicago conference held by NATO on Afghanistan.

The last drone attack was on a militant compound in the Darai Nishtar area of district Shawal in North Waziristan Agency in which 10 people were killed.
