Rest in peace: PIA staffer among victims

According to one report, Ghazala had joined the rally because of her affiliation with the Awami Tehreek.

KARACHI:

Ghazala Siddiqui, a senior advertising officer of the Pakistan International Airline, was among the people killed near Lea Market on Tuesday. She had joined PIA in 2009. Her husband, Mazhar Hussain Zardari, also works at the airline as a marketing manager.

Ghazala lived in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and her maternal uncle Usman Baloch is a social and political activist of Lyari.

There were conflicting reports about her participation in the rally. According to one report, Ghazala had joined the rally because of her affiliation with the Awami Tehreek. “She had visited many flood-hit areas with activists of the Sindhiyani Tahreek to help flood survivors in 2010 and participated on our invitation,” said Mazhar Rahojo of the party. But, according to the police, Ghazala was shot on her way to Lyari. Her cousin Ghulam Dastagir, who used to work at the FIA, was gunned down in the Lyari operation. “In these few days, we’ve lost two people,” her cousin Shahab Siddiqi told The Express Tribune. “Only the police is responsible each time and the people have to pay the price each time.”
