Marriage halls: LDA given 10 more days to take action

Justice Khan says officials were “directly involved” in the construction of marriage halls in residential areas.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Monday granted 10 days to the Lahore Development Authority to take action against marriage halls established in residential areas.

Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan granted the extra time after authority director general Ahad Cheema appeared in the court. During the hearing, Justice Khan remarked that authority officials were “directly involved” in the construction of marriage halls in residential areas.

The judge said that officials were known to have “leaked information” before an anti-encroachment operation.
