Contempt plea: SC tells petitioner to approach LHC
Petitioner contended that high court had not passed an explicit order on an earlier contempt petition
LAHORE:
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court on Friday disposed of a contempt petition against the Auqaf secretary. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry asked the petitioner to file his plea in the Lahore High Court. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry Petitioner Rana Muhammad Attique contended that high court had not passed an explicit order on an earlier contempt petition even though it had set aside a department notification that had issued directions that shrines be closed after Isha prayers. The Auqaf Department, said the petitioner, was flouting court orders by barring visitors and pilgrims from visiting shrines at night.
