Indefinitely: Daewoo suspends bus service

Korean company requested the Punjab government to provide security, claiming that it was already incurring losses.

Daewoo City Bus Service has suspended its operations indefinitely after two of its buses were set on fire by protesting Jamiat members.



A bus was torched near Samanabad area at around 2 pm and the other was set on fire in Township. A statement issued by the Korean company said that the decision had been taken for security reasons.  The company also requested the Punjab government to provide security, claiming that it was already incurring losses. It described the torching of buses as a “very big loss”. Gulshan-i-Ravi police lodged an FIR against eight unidentified students. An FIR was also registered at the Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate police station against unidentified students for setting a bus on fire.
