Anti-State Elements: Targeted killings start again, says Governor
Says some anti-state elements wanted to sabotage the city’s peace.
KARACHI:
Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that Karachi is bracing once more for targeted killings because some anti-state elements wanted to sabotage the city’s peace. Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said that the coalition partners in the Sindh government had been negotiating on the Local Government (LG) system. “We have evolved consensus on major things, but there are a few minor bottlenecks which will be removed. The people of the province will hear good news soon,” he added. The LG system resolved people’s civic issues without any delay at the local level, he said. “Everyone wants the presence of the LG system in the province and I assure people that the incumbent government will bring the system according to their wishes.” When asked about the Lyari situation, the governor said that “the law enforcement agencies have suspended the operation in Lyari as part of their strategy.”
