RAWALPINDI:

The emergency ward of the Holy Family Hospital has been expanded from 75 to 125 beds at a cost of Rs20 million.

Of these, 20 beds have been reserved for children, 25 for women and a separate cardiac ward comprising six beds has also been set up, said Director Emergency Holy Family Hospital Dr Shafiq Sarwar. He added that funds for the project were provided by philanthropists and the expansion was carried out on a self-help basis, without using money from government funds.

He added that the hospital has recruited seven additional doctors and 16 nurses for the expanded ward. “Staff will be available 24 hours for emergency medical services,” he added. Between 1,000 to 1,500 outdoor patients visit the hospital every day.
