Police policy: LHC seeks clarification on promotions

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought replies from the Punjab government and inspector general of police on a writ petition challenging the promotion policy in the police department. DSP Latif Sheikh filed the petition submitting that the promotion policy of the department was in violation of fundamental rights and contrary to the Police Order of 2002. He said that the policy should be set aside.The court admitted the petition for regular hearing and sought a response from the respondents within three weeks.
