US to send 700 soldiers for relief work

Anne Patterson insisted on the need for more dams in the country as illustrated by the ravaging floods.

ISLAMABAD:
US envoy to Pakistan Anne Patterson said on Tuesday that Pakistan is likely to face an economic crunch if IMF conditions are not met.

Addressing the media in Islamabad, Patterson said the United States has given $35 million in aid for flood affectees in Pakistan.


She added that $245 million have also been given to the Pakistani government to assist in resolving the power crisis.

Patterson insisted on the need for more dams in the country as illustrated by the ravaging floods. She informed that 700 US soldiers have been issued visas to assist in rescue and relief operations in flood hit areas of Pakistan.
