LAHORE:

Haroon Ahmad Khan has been appointed as the secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, Sports, Archaeology and Tourism in place of Dr Allah Baksh Malik.

The new appointment has been made as the province awaits the launch of the Punjab Youth Policy pending approval from the cabinet. Previously the director general of archaeology, Khan took charge on May 11. Talking to The Express Tribune, he said that he was looking forward to his new responsibilities.

Talking to The Tribune, Dr Malik, who has been actively involved in the policy consultations and drafting, said he wished till the last day in office that the cabinet would pass the policy while he was in office. He hopes the policy would address the social, economic and educational well being of the youth.  “The implementation of the policy would be a great challenge,” he said, adding, “This depends on how the government translates its ‘will’ according to its resources.”
