Deportee escape: On-duty FIA staff in hot water
FIA immigration staff were deputed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport during a short-lived deportee escape.
RAWALPINDI:
Interior Minister Rehman Malik has reportedly ordered action against the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration staff who were deputed at Benazir Bhutto International Airport during last Thursday’s short-lived deportee escape.
Official sources confided to The Express Tribune that the minister took the notice of the escape of deportees, who arrived from Greece on a special charter flight. The FIA has failed to arrest 10 deportees who succeeded in escaping from the airport on April 10.
The whole shift on duty at the time will face action over the negligence, a source in the FIA’s Rawalpindi office confirmed. The shift staff comprised of eight persons — five women and three men, and is headed by an inspector.
