Honorary member: Turkish academy selects Prof. Dr Attaur Rehman

He has been selected by the Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi [Turkish Academy of Sciences] as its foreign honorary member.

The Pakistan Higher Education Commission former chairperson, Prof. Dr Attaur Rahman, has been selected by the Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi [Turkish Academy of Sciences] (TÜBA) as its foreign honorary member.



In an official letter issued by the TÜBA’s chairperson, Prof. Dr Mehmet Ali Alpar, it was announced that Dr Atta has been selected in recognition of his services in the field of science and higher education within the country and abroad.

The Turkish academy was set up on November 25, 2011 as a non-governmental organisation to uphold principles of scientific merit, freedom and integrity.

Dr Atta has authored 843 publications on organic chemistry, including 663 research publications, 18 patents, 103 books and 59 contributing chapters in books. He was also elected as a fellow of the Royal Society, London in 2006 and won the prestigious Unesco Science Prize in 1999.
