Speaking at the press conference where the agreement was announced, Humayun Akhtar, the general secretary of Likeminded, briefed the media on the number of seats allotted to the party.
“According to the agreement made between the two parties today, 30 (which comes to 11 percent) general seats in the National Assembly have been allotted to Likeminded in the upcoming elections,” said Akhtar.
He said that the same percentage of general seats have been allotted to Likeminded for all provinces, adding that allocation of reserved seats for women, minorities and the senate were to be based on other terms.
“Likeminded will be given fair representation in parliamentary boards, manifesto committees and bodies for future alliances,” said the Likeminded general secretary.
After assimilating the Sindh National Front, the PML-N had engaged PML-Likeminded, a breakaway faction of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
The Likeminded group, led by Hamid Nasir Chattha, has some of the political heavyweights of Punjab and Sindh including Humayun Akhtar and Arbab Ghulam Rahim.
Last year, the Likeminded group had entered into negotiations with PTI Chairman Imran Khan to discuss a possible alliance. But the talks broke down after Imran asked Likeminded leaders to join his party individually or collectively.
Likeminded group's Punjab president resigns
PML-Likeminded’s Ata Manika, in protest, has resigned from his party post as President of the Punjab chapter following the party’s alliance with PML-N, Express News reported.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani called him from London, assuring his utmost cooperation.
Talking to the media, Manika said that despite playing a pivotal role in forming PML-Likeminded, the party leadership did not even consult him regarding the decision to form an alliance with PML-N.
Meanwhile Likeminded group chief Hamid Nasir Chattha said that Manika’s resignation has not been accepted, yet, and that a party delegation has been sent to pacify him.

@Ch. Allah Daad: so you think that if PML N awards tickets to let suppose Justice Cheema from Wazirabad then Hamid Nasir will not contest the election and vice versa....if you think this i'm sure you live in heaven of fools.....both of them have to contest.....i think you should consider Rural politics dynamics they are very changed secondly tell me will Hamyun Akhtar get a ticket instead of Khawja Saad Rafique as both of them are opponent in 2008 election if Mian sb do this then Looton ka kya ho ga.........same case is with Saifullah+Kashmala.......they don't add any value to PML N they will harm them in future and you will see this i'm from Gujrat and i know rumors after joining of Chattha people don't want him in PML N
Please first get some knowledge about Pakistani politics especially rural politics
One must commend Mian Sahib's political wisdom... He knows that in rural as well as in many parts of urban Pakistan electoral success can only be achieved by selecting political heavyweights. I endorse Ch Allahdad point of view. In rural Pakistan *zaat, biradari, dhangra bandi" are key factors.
To all the PTI sympathizers you guys should for once admit that Kaaptan has failed to woo political stalwarts.. If he is talking about change there is no difference in bringing either Jehangir Tareen(former federal minister in the Musharaf regime and industrialist) or Humayun Akhtar(former minister in the Musharaf regime and industrialist) into party fold.
Imran should now focus on other right wing parties like JI .. Its quite possible mian sahib would be able to succeed in forming a potent right wing anti PPP bloc minus Imran
to all PTI trolls who are now whining and taunting PML N and like minded........Grapes are sour. All those joined PTI like even SMQ are now regretting their decision because of immature politics of IK. PTI made all efforts to take these politicians but they didnt took PTI bait.
PML N is playing the same politics which PTI is playing, vying for electables and strong candidates.......albeit.............PML N is faring much much better. and btw this race was started by IK.........now accept the results.
Election Alliance??? Like Minded is not a registered political party
@Ch Allah Daad, You are Hilarious :P
Whatever they decide amongst themselves stays with them. The question is, will the voters vote for one of them or a new candidate from the PTI party ?
We will just have to wait and see.
why imran khan ask him ti join the party? because these guys will blackmail ik if they win some seats.... we need some brain to understand imran khan we trust him and we will vote for him!
What a PiTI...!
Politics is the name of building coalitions and alliances, which means bringing aboard all those who matters. Nawaz Sharif has more understanding of the Pakistani society. The problems of most of the people in Pakistan are not those which are often mentioned in PTI, discourse. It will take years for Imran Khan and that also in the case if he was lucky enought to get a good mentor that he will understand the complexities of the politics in Pakistan. Nawaz has done a great job. Due to his principled stance on civilian supremacy, Nawaz Sharif has earned the respect of many democratic minded people.
@ Ahmed, Please add their votes in individual capacity with PML(N) votes of that constituency and compare it with other parties. You will find, they have almost hundred percent chance to win their constituencies. Please use calculator for correct counting.
@Ch Allah Daad: Good one....lol
"It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first."
the only way ppp can be ousted is that pmln and pti join hands otherwise fasten your seat belt for another 5 years of ppp+pmlq+mqm+anp coalition.
Well well so when's Musharraf's joining PML-N? it once again proves that PML-N has become desperate...........
.... IK did a suicide attack on his own party after Oct 30 by accepting the questionable leftovers of Mush's era. This weakened PTI's stand of morality and now PMLn is reaping the benefits... afterall they are all their x members. Now PTI is standing on the side thinking " "
choudries ll be hoping too...
@ all these ppl are oportunists if they will c dat pti is making govt they will b with it, thats y they made an alliance all the doors are open :)
@S Vohra: I think u mean 180 degrees
soon we will have PTI and JI alliance and then ppl will call it a nightmare for all other parties... although I don't want IK to form any sort of alliance with them still they are better than maulana diesel and co.
hahaha.. all PML-N supporters are like 'yeah a great blow to PTI, and more misery to them' as if PTI was begging these guys to join them.. all those who were sincere already joined PTI, even after knowing that Imran will organize party elections and their chances of coming into power can be in danger if they don't get elected by PTI members.. still they joined the party.. PML-N supporters are acting like as if 'Likeminded's alliance was some mystery. Everyone knew they had a tilt towards PML-N, Kashmala Tariq had already made appearances in PML-N staged public meetings.. so no mystery was there. These guys knew, Nawaz Shaif is politically vulnerable and would accept anyone to show that people are joining him too, they have their constituencies and Nawaz would make all efforts to get them and they surely have the chance of getting party ticket in next elections unlike PTI where there is a hard scrutiny process and before that there are elections, so chances were quite low... But being a PTI supporter, I accept that Marvi Memon's joining was quite a blow for PTI, we were all anticipating that she would come here but she chose PML-N.. no worries, she dun even have a proper constituency.. and after all, all the brightest minds have already joined PTI (Asad Umar, Javed Hashmi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi).recently Dr AQ Khan announced his desire to contest elections from Lahore, Imran Khan was in talks with him, let's see what decision he makes..
The lust of power can bend anyone to make alliances - once right hands men of Musharraf, whom Nawaz detested from the core of his heart, are now being embraced by him - only to gain power. How very pathetic.
SO the domocratic mafia in action again. They will never deliver power to people
into pti =Accepted out of pti =Rejected can some one pti 'ns tell me the chemistry behind this.
Important State political decisions are taken at RAIWIND. Is it the White House of Pakistan??
The alliance will cost PML-N a lot. NS should beware in trusting the like of this new like-minded.Didn't they cross over to Musharraf Party when NS was grounded a s P.M.?
The mouse told the elephant, the bridge is shaking because of our weight.
All dirty eggs in he same basket.
wrong shoudl be wrong for everyone - had these ppl joined PTI they had been supported by everyone - Mush supporters should be taken in any form by Any party - that includes both PTI n PML N
@nadeem: haha
Next who will join them will be PML-Q and then APML of Mushrif. Nawaz will be next PM. May Allah Save Pakistan.
Individually these politicians are very strong in their home constituencies, only they needed was small push from a heavy weight political party. PTI lost yet another great opportunity and failed to bring these seasoned politicians into its ranks. Mian Sahib has once again proven that he makes best decisions at the right moment. More surprises for PTI in future..
"They want power at any cost. Shame." @ Much Amused,
Excetp Imran, who wants to play cricket in Parliament House?
Seemingly second last nail in the coffin of PML (Q).....
Next step is to form alliance with APML.
and the primary objective is to?
(definitely not serving the people or bring about change)
People Will see soon Shriff's brother wellcome to Gen Pervez Musharraf
Now i see these selfish, corrupt and mean men in NATIONAL Assembly of my country....AWESOMMMMMMMMM....HAHAHHA
more nightmares for PTI ....lol
I have deep sympathy for PTI...now for number of times they are just nears to catch a political individual or party but it divereted towards PMLN in the end.
Just like South Africa in Cricket WCs, PTI going to be chokers in Pakistani politics.
Baat asool ki....Yes we can all see the grand political Hypocrisy from Nooon..the right hands..left hands or front mans of Musharraf all are joining the party who they all betrayed and went with Musharraf...so why there was so much noise when they were joining PTI...Now I understood why..they actually wanted them all to join Noon and that was the real pain..
The more it changes the more it remains the same.
There is a saying in French which means "The more it changes the more it remains the same".
Pakistan is like the Fourth Republic.
They want power at any cost. Shame.
Nawaz Sharif, why are you so consistent at taking 360 degree turns? How do you expect your supporters to stand by you when go in to an alliance with Musharaf's party?
What happened to "Musharraf ki baaqi-yaat" and all that stuff?
Politics of Power, nothing else. Shame on everyone involved, specially the champions of democracy.
A united Muslim league is the need of the hour.
yawn......
