PBF’s general secretary, VP suspended
The Pakistan Badminton Federation President Nazar Muhammad Gondal has suspended the body’s general secretary.
LAHORE:
The Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) President Nazar Muhammad Gondal has suspended the body’s general secretary Aamer Hayat Khan Rokri and vice-president Syed Naqi Mohsin over alleged ‘misuse of authorities’.
The PBF president called a special general body meeting of the federation at Rodham Hall in Islamabad which culminated in the suspension of Rokhri for alleged involvement in facilitating illegal immigration, showing certain personnel as badminton players for visa issuance. Mohsin was suspended for using the federation’s funds for personal use.
In response, Rokri, who is also member of the Punjab Assembly, called the allegation against him a ‘conspiracy’ that is being hatched against him to remove him from the post. “The meeting was unconstitutional and even the attendance of the members was below par,” Rokri told a press conference.
Rokri, who was earlier this year deposed as president of the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA), added, “Gondal is using his influence to overthrow me. He thinks that we are subordinates and he can do anything.”
Rokhri said he has already filed a case in the court and it has declared this meeting as unconstitutional and in violation of the PBF rules. He further stated that the court has declared that the president of PBF is in no position to call the general meeting of the PBF body.
“The PBF under my supervision has reached top rankings at international level and I’m sure the president cannot even name the country’s five top players,” added Rokhri.
