HYDERABAD:

The workers of power distribution companies (DISCOs) continued to boycott work and hold demonstrations for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

The call for strike was given by the officers associations of the DISCOs and the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Labour Union against outsourcing the appointment of Discos’ executives.

The new wave of protests started after the Federal Ministry of Water and Power appointed Navid Ismail, former head of the Karachi Electric Supply Company, as CEO of the Quetta Electric Supply Company.

They organised rallies in Hyderabad, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin and other districts. They held a lengthy sit-in outside the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
