Irreparable damage: Short circuits destroy two shops

It took firefighters and residents more than one hour to control the fire.

Goods worth millions of rupees were reportedly destroyed after fire erupted in a department store and another shop on Wednesday.


Najmi Traders, supplier of sanitation accessories like pipes and water basins, caught fire around 8 am. Akbar Ali, the shop owner, said that he lost items worth four million rupees.


It took firefighters and residents more than one hour to control the fire. Majeed Sons, a department store on Lajpat road and located within half a kilometre from Najmi Traders, also caught fire at around the same time.

The fire soon spread to the first floor of the building where the owner of the shop resided.

Mohammad Iqbal, the owner, said that furniture and electronic appliances in his home, along with all the items in the shop, were destroyed.
