Munter has never met Hafiz Saeed: US embassy
US had announced reward worth $10 million for anyone who can provided information that can lead to Saeed’s conviction.
ISLAMABAD:
The US embassy on Wednesday categorically stated that the US ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter never met chief of Jamaatud Daawa Hafiz Saeed.
An embassy statement issued on Wednesday read that “Ambassador Munter has never met with Hafiz Saeed. No US official has made any promises to, or agreements with Hafiz Saeed.”
Earlier in April, the US had announced reward worth $10 million under the Justice for Reward programme for anyone who could provide information that can lead to Saeed’s conviction.
And recently, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stressed that Pakistan has not taken necessary action against Saeed, who is suspected of masterminding the attack by Pakistan-based gunmen on the Indian city of Mumbai in 2008.
