Former accounts officer abducted, interrogated over Sharif family assets

Mohammad Akram alleges that he was abducted by FIA personnel.

ISLAMABAD:
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif’s former accounts officer Mohammad Akram was allegedly abducted by FIA personnel who interrogated him for information regarding the Sharif family and their businesses, Express News reported.

Akram said that he was going home after saying his prayers when men in a blue jeep forced him to get in and took him away to an undisclosed location where they interrogated him saying that since he had been associated with their business for so many years he would have details.

They asked for details regarding money laundering, offshore accounts and bankers who handled the Sharif’s accounts.

He said that they interrogated him for four hours after which his state deteriorated, causing them to drop him back. Akram registered a complaint in the Shadman police station.

Rana Sanullah took notice during the Punjab Assembly and said that an investigation team consisting of top officials will be formed to conduct investigations.

FIA director and personnel in the Lahore department denied involvement in the matter, but some unnamed officials said that teams from Islamabad often conducted such raids without prior notice.
