Belt DO's & DON'TS: Buckle up

Do’s and don’ts of wearing a belt.

Belts are huge this season, especially skinny neon ones. Whether you wear a thin one to add colour, a thick one to accentuate your waist or a studded one to show off your wild side, your belt will add something special to your outfit. But as with every other statement piece, how you wear a belt can make or break your outfit. Here’s a roundup of the do’s and don’ts of wearing belts.

DO’s

Jazz up an outfit

Kate Middleton manages to add spark to her otherwise simple dress

Stick to the same tone

Wearing the same shade belt as your dress will make you look effortlessly stylish as shown by Emily Blunt

Use it to give some curves

Actor Eva Longoria looks effortlessly fabulous in this shirt dress cinched in at the waist

Wear a pop of colour

Claire Danes’ Skinny red belt brings colour to her otherwise monochrome outfit

DON’TS

Be overly matching

We love Pippa Middleton’s outfit but it would be even better if the boots didn’t match the belt. Wear neutral shoes to make your belt and other accessories stand out.

Cover it up

If you’re wearing a funky belt then make sure you show it off rather than cover it up

Wear a belt too tight

If someone with a figure like that can suffer from this then you and I will definitely have a problem

Over do it

Tone down the rest of your ensemble and let your belt do the talking
